Privacy policy
Last updated 12 September 2026
Wasafati is a meal planner for households. It needs an account so your plan, pantry and lists follow you between your phone and the web, and so the people in your household can share them. That is the whole reason we hold any data at all.
There are no ads in Wasafati, no analytics SDKs, no advertising identifier, no tracking across other apps or websites, and nothing is sold or rented to anyone. This page explains exactly what is collected, why, where it lives and how to get rid of it.
| Data | Required? | Why | Shared with anyone? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email address | Required | To create your account and sign you in | No |

| Meals, plans, pantry, lists | Required | It is the app — this is the content you create | Only what you choose to share with your household |
| Meal photos | Optional | Only if you attach a picture to a meal | Only with the meal, if you share it |
| Household invite code | Required | To let the people you invite join your house | Anyone you give the code to |
Who we are
Wasafati is operated by the team behind wasafati.app. For any question about this policy or about your data, write to hello@wasafati.app — a person answers.
Where your data is stored
Accounts and content are stored on Supabase, which hosts the database on our behalf inside the European Union. Supabase acts as a processor: it runs the infrastructure and does not use your data for its own purposes.
Everything travels over HTTPS, encrypted in transit, between your device and that database. Meals, plans, pantry items and lists are also cached on your own device so the app keeps working without a signal; that local copy syncs when you are back online.
Photos and camera
The Android app asks for photo library or camera access only at the moment you choose to attach a picture to a meal. If you never add a meal photo, it never asks and no image ever leaves your phone. Photos you do attach are stored with that meal and are visible to your household only if you share the meal with them.
What we do not collect
- No advertising identifier, and no advertising or analytics SDKs in the app
- No location data, precise or approximate
- No contacts, calendar, microphone, SMS or call logs
- No crash or diagnostic reporting tied to you
- No payment or financial information — there is nothing to pay for
- No tracking of your activity across other companies' apps or websites
Who can see what you create
Everything you add is private to you by default. When you join a household, you choose what to share with it: a meal, an ingredient, a pantry location. Shared items are visible to the other members of that household, read-only, until you stop sharing them. Nothing is ever visible to people outside your household, and nothing is public.
Household invites work by code. Anyone with the code can join your household and see what has been shared with it, so treat the code the way you would a house key and regenerate it in Settings if it gets out.
How long we keep it
As long as your account exists. Delete the account and the content attached to it — meals, plans, pantry, lists, photos — is deleted with it. Backups roll off within 30 days.
Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account from inside the app, under More → Settings, which removes your account and everything attached to it.
You can also write to hello@wasafati.app from the address on the account and ask us to delete it. We will confirm when it is done, within 30 days at the latest.
Content you shared with a household is removed from the household when it is deleted. Meals that other members copied into their own catalogs before that point are their copies and stay with them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how it is handled. Write to hello@wasafati.app and we will act on it. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Wasafati is meant for adults running a household kitchen and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who can see it, we will change the date at the top and, for anything material, tell account holders directly rather than quietly editing this page.
